New York’s Largest Pagan Festival

Running Strong for Over 25 Years

Central New York Pagan Pride Day (CNY PPD) was established in 2000 as part of the larger Pagan Pride Project. Since 2002, Church of the Greenwood has hosted the annual event, building the celebration to become among the largest in the North East region of the United States.

Following the format of all Pagan Pride Days, our celebration features a public midday ritual, food drive and monetary donation to benefit the Food Bank of CNY and a press release, as well as a closing drum circle, a variety of speakers, workshops and performances, over 80 vendors and readers, and community tables for local covens and spiritual organizations.

Meet Your 2025 Presentations, Workshops and Performances

KNOLL

  • Presented by: Kat Alexander of The Sterling Sage

This is an interactive program for audiences young (and old) focused on audience engagement through storytelling, interaction & audience participation. It is a combination of performance, demonstration and exploration that encourages all to see (and try!) forms of magic they've never seen!

There will be free giveaway items, mostly gemstones and crystals, to the audience participants and those that come up after the performance with questions.

  • Presented by: Sherene LaMontagne of Church of the Greenwood

This workshop will include a History of Paganism and Modern Paganism, and an introduction to common beliefs (such as the Wheel of the Year and Polytheism), rituals, and practices. We will also discuss why people are drawn to Paganism, and common misconceptions redirecting toward ways to show respect and to learn more. There will be time for questions.

Sherene LaMontagne holds an MS in the Science of Nursing and a BA in Theology and Philosophy. She serves as a High Priestess and Clergy within the Willow Hill Tradition and follows an eclectic path of witchcraft. A devoted mother of six and grandmother to one magical fairy granddaughter, Sherene blends wisdom, compassion, and spiritual leadership. In her free time, she raises funds for a charity supporting survivors of domestic violence, weaving advocacy into her sacred work.

  • Presented by: Vik Mayotte of The Thorned Robin

Have you been curious about oracle cards but not sure where to start? Are you an experienced diviner who wants to branch out and try something different? Join in for this fun and interactive workshop where we will be discussing the basics of oracle cards and readings! Participants will be given a chance to do a reading for themselves or a friend! A limited number of communal decks will be provided for participants to use in the workshop but folks are welcome to bring their own if they feel comfortable.

Vik has been doing psychic readings for friends and family since they were a teenager. Being a part of the local pagan community since a young age, Vik has been offering readings and classes professionally since 2010. They have worked multiple psychic fairs, retreats, and events around New York and Pennsylvania over the past 15 years. Vik enjoys sharing their wisdom and guidance with others to help spread healing and enlightenment for those who need it most.

  • Presented by: Laylla of Back on the Broomstick

A labyrinth is more than a pattern; it’s a living spell, a sacred spiral guiding you between worlds. Learn to craft your own enchanted path using natural materials like stones, twigs, or lines etched into earth. Discover the magic of walking meditations as rituals of grounding, clarity, and transformation. Explore labyrinths as portals for spellwork, spirit connection, and manifestation. Step into this ancient dance of energy and intention, and let the winding path lead you through the liminal to deep magic. We will create a small labyrinth as part of the workshop

Laylla is an eclectic weed witch and unrepentant book fiend who blends animist spirituality, Celtic and Shamanic traditions, Tarot, and hypnosis into transformative magick. With over 30 years in the craft, she’s a certified hypnotherapist, past life regressionist, and meditation coach, guiding others through spellcraft, trancework, and intentional living. As co-host of Back on the Broomstick, Laylla shares witchy wisdom, ritual know-how, and laughter, inspiring listeners to keep it witchy. Whether stirring a literal or metaphorical cauldron, she infuses life with sacred intention and a deep love for the Earth.

  • Presented by: Elizabeth Sandifer of Eruditorum Press

“Without contraries is no progression.” - William Blake

Does paganism have a concept of heresy? Think about when heathenry schismed between inclusive and neo-nazi versions, or Aleister Crowley’s tiff with the Golden Dawn, or when those baby witches on TikTok hexed the moon. But is a little heresy always such a bad thing? This workshop will consist of a brief lecture using these examples and others to discuss how paganism can have a healthy relationship with heresy, followed by an open-ended discussion in which participants will be encouraged to reflect on their own heterodoxies and hot takes.

Elizabeth Sandifer is, depending on who you ask, the acclaimed, infamous, or obscure writer of Neoreaction a Basilisk, a visionary polemic about fascism and the end of the world, and Last War in Albion, an occult history of British comic books. She is a dedicant of Sága/Ahania based in Ithaca, NY, and writes at eruditorumpress.com

RIVERVIEW

  • Presented by: Robin Akeena-Gray of Serenity Wellness

  • Presented by: Adi Shakti World Fusion Bellydance

In addition to our eclectic goddess-driven fare, we will include some pieces from a theatrical bellydance performance we're crafting, Tales of Mystery & Imagination. The theme of this performance is inspired by the short stories and poems of Edgar Allan Poe. If time allows, we'll invite the audience to dance with us for a quick bellydance lesson.

Adi Shakti is a group of women from Central and Northern New York who come together as sisters in dance. We use the term, World Fusion Bellydance, to reflect the diverse nature of our style, with ritual dances of pre-Christian tribeswomen as an early inspiration. We are truly an eclectic bunch: ethnically-inspired, drawing on a multitude of cultures, customs, and spiritual practices. You never know what may pop up in one of our performances - The common thread uniting all tribal dancers is empowerment of the feminine spirit!

The name, Adi Shakti, derives from the Sanskrit to describe the concept of the all-encompassing, omnipresent divine feminine—that energy which is creative, evolutionary—the life energy. We strive to honor and convey this energy through performing our interpretation of this ancient dance.

  • Presented by: The Lake Ontario Broomriders

We dress like witches and dance to German music to honor the Wolfshager Hexenbrut witches originally started in Germany, and American music such as The Witches Are Back from the movie Hocus Pocus. We never charge, but ask for donations to support local charities such as Veteran Organizations, local food pantries, Erin’s Angels of CNY and Kristina’s House Of Hope.

We love to have the audience participate in our last dance performance of the day. It is a fun way to share what we do. And maybe inspire others to join in our crusade against kids going hungry and domestic violence.

  • Presented by: The Maenads

Poetry/Chanting and music composed with dance choreographed around the folklore of the Harvest and the Death of Orpheus. The Maenads involve and dismember Orpheus, and perform music from the celebrated Pagan inspired Wicker Man film and sundry World Music.

The Maenads is a performance art group drawing on pagan spirituality and themes from various cultures, ancient and modern. Our work is influenced by myth, folklore, ritual practice, and other inspirations. We enjoy expressing our ideas through multimedia art forms. As eclectic witches, our respect for different traditions is sincere, and we hope that our spirit of good will can be felt in our work. There are a great many members from event to event.

  • Presented by: Bella Luna Bellydance

Bella Luna Bellydance, led by Liz London, is an amateur performance troupe specializing in Middle Eastern, North African, and Indian traditional dances fused with American music and dance stylings. After our performance, folks of all ages are welcome to join in our circle dance to learn a few moves, play some instruments, and experience the joy that group dance catharsis brings! Come jiggle and giggle with us!

Liz is also owner of The Crescent Collective, a shared rental space for holistic providers and self-care classes and events including bellydance, meditation, yoga, sound baths, and more.

GLEN

  • Presented by: Jesseca Trainham of Úthellingu Kindred

This workshop will culminate in an historically inspired ritual to Sekhmet, lioness-headed goddess of ancient Egypt, whose name means “Power.” Attendees will be introduced to relevant terms, concepts, symbols and deities from ancient Kemetic belief, so the beauty and meaning of this ritual can be understood and enjoyed by all.

Attendants will have the option of an incense-smoke free experience. Participants are welcome to partake of a modest offering of food and drink; gluten free.

Jesseca Trainham is an artist, mystic, home-maker and witch residing in Scriba, NY. She graduated from SUNY Potsdam in 2001 with a BA in Studio Art. Jesseca has created illustrations for books by Robin Artisson, Eirik Westcoat, and others. She has also illustrated the forthcoming Odin Oracle deck authored by Paul Mercurio. The CNY Pagan Pride t-shirt has featured her original designs since 2015.

  • Presented by: Sandy Caswell

Ever practical and heavily eclectic, Granny Magick is a natural, folk practice where physics meets anthropology; relying on cultural influences, common sense, and herbal medicine. Following the practices of their ancestors, Grannies were responsible for the physical and spiritual health of their people. They hunted, gardened, knew animal husbandry, and midwifery. They made lotions and potions, charms, and spells, enchanted, birthed, healed, and buried their people. With dice and playing cards, they divined the future and the hidden truth of personal and clan matters. Your Granny was probably a Witch. Let me explain how SHE practiced and how you can too.

With half a century of magickal experience, Sandy Caswell shares her thoughts on everything from gods to grannies and nature, to lotions, potions, charms and spells, and personal empowerment. Chatty and irreverent, she makes ancient wisdom, modern science, and common sense easy to understand and apply.

  • Presented by: Lydia Springflower

In this class you'll learn about different types of Faeries and similar nature spirits, as well as the lore associated with them, what to do and not to do while interacting with Faeries, and how to build friendship. Unique Faery relationships will also be explored, including the relationship between Faeries and Witches as well as the relationship of the Dead and the Faery realm.

Lydia Springflower has always loved nature, and works with it in many ways. She has had experiences with Faeries for most of her life, and strives to share her knowledge of them with others. We live in a world where having a relationship with the land and the beings on, around and within it is so important.

  • Presented by: Sweet Alivia La Lily

This is a workshop presentation for people that are curiously unfamiliar to intermediary users. We will explore the history of Dowsing, environmental uses for dowsing, and our spiritual functioning with dowsing. We will do exercises and learn about various tools for dowsing. I will take you from a shallow walk into a deeper dive to learn how dowsing can help you to become familiar with different environments and the treasures they hold, our spirit teams and pantheons, other presences, frequencies, portals, and doors into the unknown for expanding our spiritual consciousness. I will have tools and pendulums to demonstrate and available to purchase, as well as handouts.

Paula Martilotta of Alivia's Creations and Sweet Alivia La Lily has felt in tune with nature since she could walk, speaking to trees, foliage, and animals. She was tapped by the dead as a medium very young and, in her teens, she broke free from her Catholic upbringing, went to the woods, and received her name, Alivia - meaning relief, from her guides. With degrees in Humanities and Psychology, Alivia has experience in addiction treatment counseling, and certifications in multiple alternative therapies, detoxification, herbalism, and caretaker and grief support. She has mastered Usui, Sekhim, Karuna Ki and Kundalini Reiki along with Animal Reiki. Alivia gives intuitive readings using Tarot, Old Futhark and Anglo Saxon Runes, Dowsing, and Crystal energy work.

SUN

  • Presented by: Kurt Hohmann of Church of the Greenwood

Runes are more than a system of divination—they provide a set of keys for unlocking the power of natural forces, communicating with deities, and illuminating shadowed mysteries. Far from being relegated to museums of prehistoric artifacts, the runes form a living language that anyone can learn to speak and use.

This workshop provides an introduction to the runes, including their use in divination, healing, protection, and other forms of magic. The time will include a mixture of discussion, lore, sound, and energy work, with something of interest for both beginner and adept.

Kurt's spiritual background runs pretty wide. He was raised Lutheran, initiated into Wicca, and trained in a Jewish storytelling tradition. He's a former coordinator for CNY Pagan Pride who's also drummed at Voodoo temples and spent many hours talking with trees. He's been studying and working with runes for almost thirty years, and they continue to surprise him.

  • Presented by: Zay Eleanor Watersong of the Reclaiming Tradition

How do you create excellent large group rituals that are powerful, experiential, and inclusive for all involved? How can you contribute your energy as a participant? Reclaiming rituals are known for being Ecstatic, Improvisational, Ensemble, Inspired, and Organic (EIEIO) and frequently hitting that magical sweet spot of “mirth and reverence”. We will discuss and practice skills that facilitate such rituals, including planning and timing, priestexx voice, group elemental invocations, the Spiral Dance, and energy raising.

Zay Eleanor Watersong (she/they) is a Reclaiming witch, drummer, community organizer, lifelong CNY resident, and neighbor to the Onondaga Nation. She is deeply rooted in the wilds and waters of the Northeast and the Syracuse area in particular. They love the magic of green and growing things, and of people lending their energies together to create change in the world. They have been facilitating Reclaiming Tradition rituals and teaching the core courses for two decades, including on the teaching and ritual facilitation teams at Vermont Witchcamp, and authored a section of the book Elements of Magic: Reclaiming Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit.

The Reclaiming Tradition of Witchcraft is inclusive and non-hierarchical, with adherents and witchcamps in multiple languages around the world. Our practice arises from a deep, spiritual commitment to the earth, to healing, and to the linking of magic with political action.

  • Presented by: Chelle of Back on the Broomstick

Learn to read the tarot through the lens of herbs and their spiritual properties. Additionally, you’ll learn the method of herb throwing on the cards as a powerful divination tool. This workshop will guide you in selecting and interpreting herbs as you “throw them” with the cards, enhancing your readings with natural wisdom. We will explore the energetic qualities of various herbs, create personalized herbal tarot spreads, as well as delve into the synergistic use of herbs and their magical properties alongside tarot cards to provide a comprehensive divination experience.

Chelle is an accomplished witch who has been practicing magic for over 30 years with Celtic, Shamanic, and Wiccan roots, and has dedicated her life to helping others on their magical journeys. She specializes in spell crafting, tarot, herb, and scent magic, and shares her expertise through workshops, classes, and seminars at Unitarian Universalist Churches, colleges, organizations, groups, and at festivals, and through co-hosting the podcast: Back on the Broomstick. Chelle has hosted and organized local Pagan events, open Coven rituals, and taught Witchcraft 101 classes.
Chell is an Ordained Priestess, Certified Reiki Master, Master Scent Crafter and has been a Tarot reader for three decades, and is currently involved with the Coven of Ravens Rose, a Welsh Traditional Coven. Chelle's approach to magic is both practical and spiritual and aims to help individuals find their own path.

Tere is an Organic Farmer, Somatic Spiritual Doula, Astrologer, Herbalist, Holistic Reproductive Health and Sexuality Educator. She is the creatrix of "The Intentional Feminine", an annual holistic wellness and intuitive retreat and conference, focused on celebrating all forms of feminine wisdom. • Presented by: Rev. Debbie Philp

Climate and extinction crises threaten our beloved Earth community and, ultimately, us, but there is hope to be found in care for nature inspired by Paganism. With inspiration from new animism, deep ecology, and shamanism; ideas from authors such as Stephan Harding, Deborah Bird Rose, David Abram, and Starhawk; and anecdotes from Debbie’s work as a wildlife rehabilitator, this workshop addresses why saving the Earth’s biodiversity should be an imperative for all Pagans. Debbie invites support and protection of wild beings with practical how-tos for tending life-affirming ecosystems large and small, and shares some ecospiritual practices and rituals that invoke the magic and mysticism of nature and ground us in an expanded sense of belonging in the wild world. The workshop will include a meditation practice and a community-created eco-grief ritual.

Rev. Debbie Philp is an ecospiritual minister, a shamanic healer and teacher, a druid, and a wildlife rehabilitator and educator in service to all beings, especially turtles. Her ministry weaves a revolutionary new story of interrelatedness and wonder and invites spirit-led action to preserve the magic of biodiversity on Earth. Debbie is pursuing a master’s degree in the integral study of ecology and spirituality with a focus on human-wildlife relationships, is the executive director of a nonprofit freshwater turtle rescue and rehabilitation center, and blogs at debbiephilp.com.

MOON

  • Presented by: Kae of Wild-Purple

Any age can learn the secret behind the sharing of such a tiny island by what was thought to be drastic enemies. These two different peoples struck a deal, forgotten? Erased? Most likely unknown in the history books of all but direct descents, as the island remains the same, still occupied by both peoples to this day.

  • Presented by: Beth Sickler, Psychic and Medium of Glenville Paranormal Investigations

  • Presented by: Zac Hansen of Consciously Awesome

If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or checked out, you’re not imagining it? If you’ve been feeling like something’s off but can’t quite name it? You’re in the right place. Most people carry more than they realize: stress, tension, looping thoughts - these don’t just live in your mind. They are held by your body. This experience helps you understand why that happens and what you can do about it.

You’ll explore how your nervous system shapes the way you think, feel, and respond. You’ll get a real-time experience of what it feels like to begin reconnecting from the inside out. Starting with a 15-20 minute presentation, I will guide everyone through a short SomatIQ Breathwork exercise while playing music.

Zachery Hansen is an inspiring leader whose mission is to bring hope and clarity to the lives of others. Zachery is the co-founder of Consciously Awesome, an author of multiple #1 international bestsellers, co-creator of Fractal Illumination, and certified as an Ambassador of Consciousness, Somatic Breathwork Practitioner, Soul Messenger, and Reiki Master. He is passionate about helping you understand yourself and your life paths more deeply, providing you with the guidance and clarity you need to make the most of your life. Through mentoring, spiritual readings, and energy healing, Zachery helps you connect with your sovereign source and promotes your spiritual evolution.

  • Presented by: Vanessa Hanks of Spindle and Root Shop

Throughout lore, witches fly. During this presentation, we will explore the basics of flying into the spirit worlds as witches have always done. I will share my perspective and methods for journeying into the spirit realms as a folk witch. We will discuss why this skill is so valuable to magical practitioners and what can be gained through hedge riding into the Otherworld.

Rev. Vanessa is a Spiritualist minister, pagan practitioner, and solitary folk witch. She owns a magical and metaphysical shop in West Bloomfield, NY called "The Spindle & Root" where she hosts circles and classes on: hedge riding and the Witch's Compass, psychopompery and ghosts, developing spirit gifts, and folklore. Rev. Vanessa collects antique Spiritualist, occult, and folklore books and items, some of which she sells in her shop. She is presently writing two books entitled "Tending to the Bone Garden: Psychopompery for Healing Ghosts and Gaia" and "The Granny Apple Grimoire: The Folk Magic in New York Witch Lore." She is dedicated to preserving New York’s folk magic past and is an artist who draws on lore and her connection with spirits in her artwork.
